An indispensable teacher in the era of artificial intelligence: The cooperation of a teacher and AI was discussed at NIS

More than a thousand teachers joined the second meeting in the format of the round table “An irreplaceable teacher in the era of artificial intelligence”

How will artificial intelligence affect education? Will the role of the teacher change in the learning process? How will the teacher-AI tandem cooperation be built. Kazakh teachers received answers to these and other topical questions from domestic and foreign experts.

The future in the age of AI and the prospects for cooperation between artificial intelligence and teachers were analyzed by the director of innovation and external relations of the EduCluster group of the University of Jyväskylä David Marsh from Finland. Project Director of the International Partnership for Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence Amandip Singh Jill of Switzerland connected from Switzerland and dedicated his talk to the role of a teacher in a new reality.

Kulyash Shamshidinova, Chairman of the Board of AEO Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, speaking about the priority opportunities and prospects for teachers in the era of AI, stressed that artificial intelligence should work for the benefit of children. What can AI and what is beyond the control of the topic, how is its introduction into the educational process going, whether artificial intelligence can solve creative problems – the answers to the most pressing questions were voiced in the speech of Kulyash Nogataevna.

The teachers of the Intellectual and secondary schools who joined the round table were interested in the opinion of NIS experts on the role of the teacher in the era of AI. Dinara Beisembayeva, a chemistry teacher at the Intellectual School of Nur-Sultan, an ambassador of the Global Teacher Prize in Kazakhstan, winner of the National Teacher of Kazakhstan 2020 award, presented how artificial intelligence is used in pedagogical practice today. The staff of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence prepared and provided the participants of the round table with a list of relevant materials on artificial intelligence. The list includes more than a hundred titles, including various literature and videos.

The collective conclusion of all the participants of the round table was voiced by Kulyash Shamshidinova:

– A hundred years ago the famous British chess player William Arthur Ward said: “The average teacher tells. A good teacher explains. A very good teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. ” In the era of artificial intelligence, the teacher remains indispensable, but the average and the good will not find a place in him. Only the very good and the great should work.

“An irreplaceable teacher in the era of artificial intelligence” is the second round table on strategic trends in world education, held as part of the NIS jubilee project dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Ibrai Altynsarin.
